Connecting the heart of God...   ...to the hurt of man.

 Annual Drive-Through Nativity

What Is The Drive-Through Living Nativity?

This event is an outreach effort to our community. It has served to increase our visibility and name recognition in the community as well as to fulfill our obligation to ensure that our society never forgets the true significance of Christmas.

It takes place in the parking lot of the Towne South Church of Christ. Cars enter the driveway and circle around the parking lot viewing the following scenes:

  1. Roman soldiers distributing tax papers as people enter the town of Bethlehem.

  2. Shepherds visiting the stable to find Joseph, Mary and the baby Jesus (live animals).

  3. The wise men on their way to Bethlehem following the star.

  4. King Herod vowing to rid himself of this threat to his power.

  5. Simeon sharing memories of seeing the Christ Child after a lifetime of waiting.

In each scene, there are characters with and without speaking parts. Those with speaking parts go to each car and explain what is happening as if they were actually there. Those who volunteer for the speaking parts need to be very animated! We normally try to recruit enough cast members so that we can rotate every hour.

Members of the Towne South Church of Christ as asked to volunteer not only for speaking and non-speaking parts in the Living Nativity, but in various other ways. If you are interested in helping and would like more information as to the various areas of service, pick up a brochure on the table at the back of the auditorium or speak to Ronnie Woolard.
